Cycling Versus Swapping Strategies With IL-17 Inhibitors in Psoriatic Arthritis

The availability of various biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) with different mechanisms of action enhances treatment options for psoriatic arthritis (PsA). This study compared the effectiveness of cycling between TNFi therapies and swapping from TNFi to IL17i (or vice versa) among PsA patients treated from January 2016 to January 2022. Results showed that the 2-year retention rates were 51% for cycling, 58% for TNFi to IL17i swaps, and 34% for IL17i to TNFi swaps, with swapping strategies proving more effective, particularly the TNFi to IL17i approach.
